Director Curry Barker teases 20-minute extended cut of Obsession

Director Curry Barker has expressed interest in releasing an extended version of his horror film, Obsession, which would include approximately 20 minutes of additional footage. The film, released theatrically in May 2026, has become a major commercial success, grossing over $500 million worldwide. It currently stands as the second-highest-grossing original horror movie in history, trailing only The Sixth Sense.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Barker clarified that an extended cut would not be a director’s cut intended to revise the original film. He stated that he is satisfied with the current theatrical edit, which runs approximately 109 minutes, and considers it his definitive version. The proposed extended edition would bring the total runtime to nearly two hours and ten minutes.
