Director Darko Mitrevski announces new film spin-off

Macedonian director and screenwriter Darko Mitrevski has announced his return to domestic cinema with a new film project. The upcoming production is a spin-off set within the universe of his successful film ‘Balkan Kan Kan’, rather than a direct sequel or prequel.

Described as a romantic, erotic black comedy, the film will serve as a cynical commentary on modern life and the pursuit of fame through social media. The plot follows two individuals who achieve global recognition via social networks, leading to the disintegration of their real lives.

Filming is scheduled to take place in Skopje next year. The main cast includes Sashko Kotsev, Jelena Jovanova, and Toni Mihajlovski, with music composed by Kiril Dzajkovski. Mitrevski noted that the screenplay was completed in four weeks and stated that the team is currently seeking financing, with hopes to finalize the budget within the next six months.
