Director Gábor Reisz discusses new film ‘Földszint’ and funding challenges
Film director Gábor Reisz discussed his new film, ‘Földszint’, which explores social dynamics through the lens of a residential building meeting. The project was developed through community financing rather than state support.
Reisz noted that he avoided applying for funding from the National Film Institute (NFI) due to the institution's perceived political alignment during the previous administration. He described the NFI as a symbol of the political system, making it incompatible with his creative work. While his previous film, ‘Magyarázat mindenre’, won the Orizzonti category award at the Venice Film Festival, the path to producing ‘Földszint’ required alternative financial models to maintain artistic independence.
