Director Halit Refiğ commemorated on 17th anniversary of death

Director Halit Refiğ was commemorated at his grave in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery on the 17th anniversary of his death. The memorial service was organized by the Esenler Municipality.

During the ceremony, Refiğ’s wife, Gülper Refiğ, spoke about her husband’s legacy and character. She noted that his works grant him a form of immortality, stating, “If your works live, you live along with them.” She described him as a man of great honor who chose to build his own career independently, despite coming from a wealthy industrialist family with significant assets. She recalled their periods of financial hardship and noted his contentment with a simple life as long as the country was stable and his peers were well.

Refiğ is remembered for his principled approach to life and his dedication to his craft.
