Director Kane Parsons brands generative AI a symptom of cultural and economic decay
Kane Parsons, a 20‑year‑old director of the horror film *Backrooms*, told The Australian that generative AI offers no creative value and harms innovation. He said, "If I could snap my fingers and make generative AI disappear forever, I would," describing the technology as "really harmful" to creativity and a "symptom of broader cultural and economic rot."
Parsons added that he may explore AI themes in a future movie, but his debut relied on massive physical sets and even hired an exceptionally tall actor for a role instead of using CGI. The film topped the U.S. box‑office weekend after its release.
