Director Makoto Hirano discusses production details for ‘Nami Uraraka ni, Meoto Biyori’ sequel
Director Makoto Hirano has shared insights into the production of the drama sequel ‘Nami Uraraka ni, Meoto Biyori’, starring Kyoko Yoshine and Hibiya Honda. The series, set in 1937, follows the lives of a newlywed couple during the Showa era.
Regarding the opening sequence, Hirano explained that the title back is designed around the theme of a warm, bustling household, featuring various guests who visit the couple's dining table. He noted that the characters' reactions change depending on the guest, and subtle details, such as the changing phases of the moon in the background, are included for viewers to discover.
The ending features a “modern reincarnation scene,” which Hirano described as an “another story” inspired by the original manga. This sequence provides a visual contrast between the warm atmosphere of the Showa era and a vibrant, modern setting.
Upcoming episodes will feature guest appearances by Erika Ikuta and Yuki Izawa. The series has seen strong digital engagement, with the first episode reaching approximately 2.4 million views on TVer.
