Director Nicola Sorcinelli to meet fans in Ancona for ‘Balcanica’ screening

Director Nicola Sorcinelli will meet with audiences at the Cinema Teatro Italia in Ancona on Thursday, October 15, for a screening of his debut film, ‘Balcanica’. The event is part of the ‘Sentieri di Cinema Ancona 2026’ project.

‘Balcanica’ is a drama inspired by true stories of individuals traveling the Balkan route. The film features an international cast, including Matilda De Angelis. The narrative follows an orchestra conductor and his musician son fleeing Afghanistan, where music is banned by the Taliban, as they journey toward Italy. During the final leg of their trip, they encounter an Italian doctor patrolling the border to provide assistance to migrants.

The film previously won the Audience Award at the 2026 Giornate degli Autori and the ‘Carlo Lizzani’ Prize at the Venice International Film Festival. Distributed by Fandango, the film was released in theaters on October 8.
