Directors reimagine Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat for new animated film

Directors Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja are reimagining the Dr. Seuss classic, The Cat in the Hat, for a new animated feature. The film expands the character's universe, portraying the Cat as a professional tasked by the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration to help two siblings, Gabby and Sebastian, adapt to a new city.

Carloni and Rivinoja explored the idea of the Cat as a figure who provides emotional support, questioning if the character functions as a child psychologist. The production aims to balance comedy with emotional depth, moving from the children's initial insecurity to newfound confidence.

The voice cast for the original version includes Bill Hader as the Cat, alongside Xochitl Gomez, Quinta Brunson, Matt Berry, Giancarlo Esposito, and America Ferrera.
