Dirk Nowitzki discusses potential return to Dallas Mavericks role

Dirk Nowitzki has indicated the possibility of increasing his involvement with the Dallas Mavericks following leadership changes within the organization. The Hall of Famer, who previously maintained distance from the franchise during the tenure of former general manager Nico Harrison, has been in contact with the new leadership.

Nowitzki revealed that he has exchanged numerous communications with Masai Ujiri, the team's new leader, regarding the future of his relationship with the club. While Nowitzki stated that a new role is not ‘urgent’ due to his existing commitments—including his role as chairman of the FIBA Players’ Commission and his work as a studio analyst for Amazon Prime Video—he expressed a desire to contribute more to the Mavericks when the time is right.

Nowitzki, who played 21 seasons for the Mavericks, remains a lifelong supporter of the team and maintains a friendship with minority owner Mark Cuban.
