Dirk Schuebel begins mandate as EU Ambassador to Kosovo
Dirk Schuebel has officially assumed his mandate as the European Union Ambassador to Kosovo, serving concurrently as the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo and the EU Special Representative (EUSR).
Schuebel, a veteran German diplomat with previous experience in Belarus and Moldova, emphasized the importance of functional institutions in Kosovo to facilitate necessary reforms. He noted that effective governance is required to fully utilize the EU Growth Plan and upcoming IPA funds.
In his new role, Schuebel expressed his commitment to supporting Kosovo’s path toward EU integration on equal footing with other Western Balkan partners. He also pledged to support Kosovo’s constructive engagement in the EU-facilitated dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade to normalize relations, working closely with the EU Special Representative for Dialogue, Peter Sorensen.
