Disability Community Marks ADA Anniversary with Accessibility Report and Wheelchair Softball Tournament

The Urban Institute released the third volume of its Do No Harm Guide series, a report aimed at making data visualizations accessible for the more than 61 million people with disabilities in the United States. The guide contains nine expert essays covering topics such as designing with accessibility from the outset, writing effective alternative text, and implementing accessible web content.

In Wisconsin, the 37th annual wheelchair softball tournament was held in Wauwatosa to honor the 36‑year‑old Americans with Disabilities Act. Participants such as Tyson Hughes, founder Damian Buchman of The Ability Center, and veteran‑focused organizer Mike Brain highlighted the event’s role in raising awareness and funds for adaptive sports programs and paralyzed veterans, emphasizing camaraderie and inclusion.
