Disability rights advocates demand labor inclusion and visibility

In Zacatecas, Mexico, more than 300 people with disabilities participated in the third “Yo También Quiero Trabajar” march. Organized by the State Independent Monitoring Mechanism of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the march concluded at the State Congress. Participants presented a petition to the LXV Legislature requesting legislative measures to strengthen labor inclusion, eliminate barriers to dignified employment, and provide accessible training materials.

In Chihuahua, Mexico, the municipal government announced the third edition of the “Ruta de la Discapacidad” (Disability Route) event, titled “El Movimiento.” Scheduled for December 6 at Plaza de Armas, the event aims to promote inclusion and visibility for conditions such as autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and visual impairment through various running modalities.

Broad social debates continue regarding the effectiveness of disability inclusion, specifically focusing on the necessity of accessible selection processes, workplace adaptations, and the timely recognition of dependency degrees to ensure autonomy and social participation.
