Disability support initiatives highlighted in Chile and Cuba

In Talca, Chile, the president of the Fundación Hacer Visible lo Invisible, Paola Zúñiga, visited the Centro de Capacitación de Ciegos y Limitaciones Visuales (Cencacyliv). During the visit, low vision identifiers were distributed to members of the association to help the public recognize visual impairments that often go unnoticed. The event focused on sharing personal experiences regarding degenerative conditions like retinitis pigmentosa.

In Mayabeque, Cuba, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez visited the National Rehabilitation Center for blind and low-vision individuals in Bejucal. The center, which was originally inaugurated by Fidel Castro in 1990, has recently undergone construction updates. It is reopening to begin training instructors to expand rehabilitation services to communities across the country, aiming to provide social, psychological, and practical tools for full societal inclusion.
