Disabled Rapido rider in Hyderabad reports frequent ride cancellations

Sandeep Batti, a specially‑abled Rapido rider from Begum Bazaar in Hyderabad, has been working for the bike‑hailing service since the COVID‑19 pandemic. He aims to earn about Rs 1,000 a day by completing 50‑60 rides, but often manages only 10‑15, sometimes as few as five, because customers cancel after seeing his disability or his scooter. He said, "I try to earn Rs 1,000 every day, but I am usually unable to reach my target because many customers cancel the ride after seeing my disability." Each cancellation incurs a Rs 10 penalty, adding to his financial strain. Batti also faces a monthly EMI of Rs 6,000 for his Activa scooter and has applied for other jobs without success.
