Disaster recovery strategies focus on replication and regional infrastructure
Organizations are increasingly prioritizing disaster recovery and business continuity through advanced replication and strategic infrastructure placement. Technical solutions, such as those provided by Veeam, allow IT teams to create ready-to-use replicas of virtual machines on separate infrastructure. These replicas contain essential system settings and application data, enabling faster recovery and reduced downtime by allowing administrators to switch workloads to replicas rather than rebuilding systems from scratch.
Geographic separation remains a critical component of effective recovery planning. While Western Europe has traditionally been a primary market for infrastructure, Eastern Europe is emerging as a viable hub for disaster recovery sites. The region offers connectivity and hosting options within EU member states, providing businesses with the ability to separate primary and recovery environments geographically while remaining within the European Union.
As cloud adoption grows—with Eurostat reporting that 52.7% of EU enterprises use paid cloud services—the need for robust recovery plans increases. Moving to the cloud does not automatically guarantee a secondary operating environment, making the selection of independent infrastructure and detailed assessment of network connections vital for maintaining operations during failures.
