Discord moderation bot Double Counter hit in massive data leak
A security breach involving the Discord moderation bot Double Counter has resulted in the leak of data from approximately 28 million Discord accounts. The attack, which occurred on October 4, 2026, targeted the French company Tellter SAS, the owner of the bot.
The breach involved the theft of roughly 12 gigabytes of data. This includes Discord IDs and usernames for 28 million accounts, IP addresses and coarse location data (including country, region, city, and postal code) for 27 million accounts, and nearly one million unique email addresses. Discord confirmed the incident but stated it was a third-party breach rather than a compromise of its own systems.
While passwords and credit card numbers were not compromised, security experts warn that the combination of usernames, emails, and location data significantly increases the risk of highly targeted phishing attacks, particularly for younger users.
