Discord to index public messages on Google search

Discord has announced a two-phase plan to make content from its Discoverable Servers searchable on Google and other search engines. The initiative aims to increase the visibility of useful community information, such as gaming guides and technical support, which is currently difficult for outsiders to find.

The rollout begins on November 16, 2026, when eligible servers—those with at least 1,000 members and at least eight weeks of activity—will receive public Server Web Pages. These pages will feature AI-generated summaries of discussions in selected public channels. The second phase, starting in mid-December 2026, will allow individual messages from participating channels to appear in search results.

To address privacy concerns, Discord stated that usernames and avatars will not be displayed alongside indexed messages. The feature will not apply retroactively to messages sent before the rollout, nor will it affect private servers, direct messages, or restricted role-based channels.

In certain regions, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea, the visibility of individual messages will be disabled by default. Users in these areas, as well as those in other regions, can manually opt out through their User Settings under Data and Privacy.
