Discord voice call services disrupted by widespread outage

Discord experienced a significant service disruption starting late Thursday night and continuing into Friday, September 11, 2026. The outage primarily impacted voice call connectivity, leaving users unable to join voice channels or participate in group calls.

Outage tracking service Downdetector logged over 14,750 reports, with approximately 68% to 90% of complaints specifically citing voice call failures. Other reported issues included difficulties with the mobile and desktop applications and the website. The disruption appeared to be global, with users in the United States, India, and the Philippines reporting similar connectivity problems.

Preliminary observations suggest the issue may be linked to a software update released on September 8, which modified the desktop connection status terminology. Users reported being stuck on a “Waiting for Voice Server” screen despite having stable internet connections. Discord acknowledged the issue on its official status page, stating, “We are currently investigating this issue,” though no specific timeline for a full resolution was initially provided.
