Disinformation affects 77% of Poles, report finds

A report titled ‘Disinformation in the Eyes of Poles 2026’ by the Digital Poland Foundation reveals that 77% of Poles have encountered false information, with social media serving as the primary source. The study indicates that 91% of Poles have believed at least one piece of fake news, and nearly half of the population views influence operations as a national security threat comparable to an armed attack.

Despite the prevalence of misinformation, only 13% of Poles utilize fact-checking services to verify content. Experts emphasize that media education is a critical tool for building societal resilience against disinformation and hybrid warfare tactics. This trend aligns with broader European data from Eurobarometer, which showed 66% of EU residents encountered disinformation in a given week.
