Disinformation experts warn of sophisticated propaganda techniques
Experts are highlighting the increasing sophistication of disinformation campaigns, which aim to influence both public perception and behavior by targeting human trust.
During a public debate organized by IPN, journalist Mariana Colun explained that propagandists often use repetition and the construction of a ‘common enemy’ to manipulate audiences. She noted that while professional journalism moves from evidence to conclusion, propaganda works in reverse, starting with a predetermined conclusion and adapting evidence to fit it.
Colun advised citizens to identify potential disinformation by checking the credibility of sources and being wary of sensationalist headlines. Iulian Groza, executive director of the Institute for Policy Studies, also noted that these campaigns are becoming more complex in their attempts to shape societal attitudes.
