Dismembered, Burned Body Discovered in Curacaví, Chile
On Friday afternoon, a dismembered and partially burned male body was found on Camino La Aurora, a rural road in the commune of Curacaví, Metropolitan Region of Chile. The victim, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old, has not yet been identified.
Investigators from the Fiscalía’s Organized Crime and Homicides unit (ECOH), the Metropolitan Homicide Brigade of the PDI, Carabineros, and local security forces responded to the scene. Prosecutor Ernesto Navarro and PDI officials said no hypothesis has been ruled out, including possible kidnapping, homicide, or the involvement of organized crime groups that may use the area as a disposal site for crimes committed in Santiago. Curacaví mayor Christian Hernández warned that the finding adds to recent incidents of burned bodies in the locale and expressed concern about a perceived pattern of criminal activity.
