Disney World undergoes refurbishments at Hollywood Studios and Grand Floridian
Walt Disney World is conducting several maintenance and restoration projects across its Orlando property. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Echo Lake has been drained to facilitate maintenance of the basin and surrounding structures, including the S.S. Down the Hatch. As part of this effort, the landmark dinosaur Gertie has been repainted. Additionally, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is undergoing an exterior refurbishment, with reports indicating the return of a purple lightning strike detail to the Hollywood Tower Hotel building. Speculation regarding new audio content for the attraction has also emerged following a visit by voice actor Mark Silverman to Walt Disney Imagineering.
At the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney has reopened the southern roundabout on Floridian Way. This restores direct access to the resort’s main entrance following a period of construction-related traffic redirections that had required guests to use a less direct route.
