Disney+ and Apple TV+ debut new thriller series

Disney+ has launched the eight‑episode thriller Furious, a drama that tackles female anger, sexual trafficking and domestic abuse through a complex cat‑and‑mouse plot involving a former NYPD homicide detective and a serial killer. Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the series has been praised by The Guardian and NME for its modern take on the genre.

Apple TV+ introduced the noir series Sugar, starring Colin Farrell as private detective John Sugar. The eight‑episode first season follows the disappearance of a young woman, while the second season continues with a new case. Critics note the show’s homage to classic noir films and its strong visual style, with Farrell also serving as executive producer.
