Disney and RTLZwei expand streaming profitability and FAST channel offerings
Disney is concentrating on turning its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, into sustainable profit generators while relying on its Parks and Experiences division and ESPN's shift toward a more digital live‑sports model. Management highlighted new pricing tiers, ad‑supported options and cost controls as key levers to move the Direct‑to‑Consumer business toward profitability.
German broadcaster RTLZwei launched two FAST (Free‑Ad‑Supported Television) channels on Samsung TV Plus, featuring its popular automotive show “GRIP” and the reality series “Die Geissens”. The partnership with Samsung and streaming‑technology provider Wurl aims to extend the channel’s reach in the growing Connected‑TV market and create new ad‑sale opportunities.
Both moves underscore an industry‑wide push to monetise video content through diversified subscription models, ad‑supported formats and platform‑wide distribution.
