Disney and Square Enix announce major projects at D23 Expo

During the D23 Expo, Disney and Square Enix announced several major upcoming projects across film, television, and gaming.

In the gaming sector, Square Enix confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV is slated for release late next year. The title will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, marking the 25th anniversary of the franchise's Western release. The game will feature new story arcs, including a setting inspired by the film Coco.

In television and film, Disney+ announced that Peter Capaldi will join the cast of the sixth season of Only Murders in the Building. Additionally, Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart for the second season of the upcoming Harry Potter series. In the film industry, reports suggest Scarlett Johansson may appear in the sequel to The Batman, which is currently targeted for a February 2028 release.
