Disney and TikTok Team Up to Add Fan‑Created Shorts to Disney+ Verts FAST-MOVING
The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have signed a global, first‑of‑its‑kind partnership that will let selected TikTok creators produce short‑form videos using Disney’s intellectual property. Approved videos will appear on both TikTok and Disney+ within the vertical‑video feed called Verts. The pilot will launch in the United States in the coming months before expanding to other markets.
Creators will gain access to assets from hundreds of Disney titles, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX and Lucasfilm. Disney will curate the content, and a Disney Creator Ambassador Program will offer top creators visibility, exclusive event access and career‑development opportunities. The deal reflects Disney’s broader push into short‑form, mobile‑first entertainment, following the earlier, now‑canceled OpenAI Sora project. Disney chief marketing and brand officer Asad Ayaz and TikTok global head of entertainment Dawn Yang highlighted the collaboration as a way to extend the life of Disney stories through fan creativity, while CEO Josh D’Amaro noted its importance for reaching younger audiences.
