Disney Animator Glen Keane Airlifted on Arizona’s Mummy Mountain

72‑year‑old Disney animator Glen Keane was rescued on July 29, 2026 after he and his grandchildren became stranded on a narrow trail on Mummy Mountain near Phoenix, Arizona, as temperatures rose to about 109 °F. He called for help and the Phoenix Fire Department dispatched a rescue helicopter that airlifted him to a nearby landing zone.

Keane, a Disney Legend celebrated for his work on The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and other films, declined transport to a hospital after the rescue. Though he now lives in France, he grew up in the Phoenix area and graduated from Brophy College Preparatory in 1972.
