Disney announces 2027 reopening for Carousel of Progress

Disney has announced a reopening window of late spring 2027 for the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. The attraction, which has been closed since July 6, 2026, is undergoing its most extensive overhaul in history.

Rather than replacing the attraction, Disney is reimagining portions of the existing experience. The update will include changes to the decades represented in the journey and refreshed scenes that follow an American family through technological changes. A significant addition will be a new introductory scene featuring a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure, strengthening the connection to the man who helped develop the attraction for the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair.
