Pixar announces Coco 2 sequel for November 2029 release
At the D23 fan convention in Anaheim, Disney and Pixar officially announced a sequel to the 2017 hit film ‘Coco’. Titled ‘Coco 2’, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release in November 2029.
Concept art revealed during the event shows the protagonist, Miguel Rivera, as a teenager accompanied by his dog, Dante. The story will take place several years after the original film and will involve a return to the Land of the Dead. Benjamin Bratt is confirmed to reprise his role as the antagonist, Ernesto de la Cruz, who is reportedly seeking revenge against Miguel.
The creative team for the sequel includes original director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina. Mark Nielsen is set to produce the film. The announcement comes as part of a broader showcase of Disney's upcoming slate, which includes projects like ‘X-Men’, ‘Tangled’, and ‘The Incredibles 3’.
