Disney announces ‘Disney Worldbuilders’ documentary

Disney has announced the upcoming release of ‘Disney Worldbuilders’, a new documentary directed by Leslie Iwerks. The film is scheduled to premiere at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event before becoming available on Disney+ on August 20.

The documentary explores the creative process behind how stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm are transformed into physical experiences within Disney Parks worldwide. Iwerks examines the work of the architects and storytellers who bridge the gap between cinema and theme park attractions.

Featured interviewees include high-profile figures such as Bob Iger, James Cameron, Jon Favreau, Kevin Feige, Jennifer Lee, Pete Docter, Dave Filoni, Jared Bush, and Josh D’Amaro. The film covers the development of major franchises including Avatar, Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Pixar productions.
