Disney+ announces German dystopian series City of Blood

Disney+ has released the trailer for ‘City of Blood’, a new German original series scheduled to premiere on September 16, 2026. Created by Philipp Kadelbach and Elena Lyubarskaya, the eight-episode series is a dystopian thriller that blends crime and vampire horror.

Set in a future Berlin devastated by extreme climate change, the story depicts a city-state on the brink of collapse. A small elite lives protected within a massive climate-controlled dome, while the rest of the population struggles to survive amidst heat, violence, and social inequality.

The plot follows two sisters, Bea and Phoebe, who were separated during childhood following a tragic event. Bea grew up in privilege with an adoptive mother while managing a chronic illness, whereas Phoebe survived on the streets. Their lives intersect as the city prepares for pivotal elections, revealing that vampires control Berlin's organized crime and seek to seize political power.
