Disney to launch “Hidden Heroes” spinoff of the Descendants franchise

Disney announced that a new film, Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story, has been green‑lit and will enter production for Disney Channel and Disney+. The movie centers on the children of classic Disney sidekicks – Jennie, the daughter of Genie; Zara, the daughter of Yzma; Kronk Jr., the son of Kronk; Meri, the daughter of Merryweather; Lou, the son of Lumière; and the Potts siblings from Beauty and the Beast.

The project is directed by Jude Weng and written by Tamara Chestna, Eydie Faye and Emma Fletcher. Executive producers include Mark Ordesky, Jane Fleming, Gary Marsh and others. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said the film “puts the sidekicks center stage” and adds a “fun, surprising new chapter” to the Descendants universe.

The cast features Dior Goodjohn as Jennie, Momona Tamada as Zara, Jacob Rodriguez as Kronk Jr., Eva Fossaceca Smedley as Meri and Harry Jones as Lou, with Rhys Dawkins, Connor Wong and Kyra Wong playing the Potts siblings.
