Disney announces home video release dates for live-action ‘Moana’

Disney has announced the digital and physical media release dates for its live-action reimagining of ‘Moana’. The film will be available for digital purchase or rental starting September 8, followed by a physical media release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 6.

Directed by Thomas Kail, the adaptation stars newcomer Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson as Maui. Despite high expectations following the success of the original animated film and the recent ‘Moana 2’, the live-action version saw a disappointing theatrical run, grossing approximately $315 million globally.

The home video release will include bonus content, such as a sing-along version and featurettes covering casting, choreography, costume design, and the film’s soundtrack featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina, and Opetaia Foa’i. Disney has not yet specified a date for the film to arrive on Disney+.
