Disney+ Announces Julie Andrews Documentary for 2027 Release

Disney announced that a definitive documentary about Julie Andrews will premiere globally on Disney+ in 2027. The film is being directed and produced by acclaimed documentarian R. J. Cutler, whose previous work includes Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry and Martha. Production is being handled by This Machine, a Sony Pictures Television company, with Cutler joined by producers Trevor Smith, Elise Pearlstein, Jane Cha Cutler, Jonathan Ruane and executive producer Mark Blatty.

The documentary will feature never‑before‑seen archival footage and new interviews with Andrews herself, tracing her journey from early British vaudeville performances through her rise to international stardom in Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, The Princess Diaries and beyond. It aims to explore the personal challenges, resilience and reinvention that have shaped her career and legacy.
