Disney appoints former Warner Bros. Discovery executive Dan Weinberger

The Walt Disney Company is undergoing significant leadership transitions following the appointment of Josh D’Amaro as CEO and Dana Walden as President. Among these changes, Dan Weinberger, a former executive at Warner Bros. Discovery, is joining Disney as deputy general counsel. Weinberger brings extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, having played key roles in the sale of Time Warner to AT&T and the merger of Warner Media and Discovery.

His expertise in corporate transactions and growth initiatives, including video games and the Chinese entertainment market, arrives as Disney continues to invest in sectors like gaming through its partnership with Epic Games.

Separately, recent discussions regarding Disney’s corporate direction have surfaced following layoffs in the marketing department in May 2026 and a reversal of gender-neutral park greetings to the traditional “ladies and gentlemen” phrasing. While these changes have sparked online debate regarding company culture, no official link has been established between the new leadership and a specific shift in DEI policies.
