Disney appoints Karandeep Anand as first Chief Technology Officer

The Walt Disney Company has appointed Karandeep Anand as its first Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Anand, who previously served as CEO of Character.AI, is scheduled to begin the new role on October 2.

In this newly created position, Anand will report directly to Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro. His responsibilities will include overseeing enterprise technology, infrastructure, data and AI platforms, product, and engineering. The goal of the appointment is to modernize how Disney builds and delivers technology across the entire company.

Anand brings extensive experience from previous leadership roles at Microsoft, Facebook, and Brex. Along with his appointment, several members of the Character.AI technical team are expected to join Disney.
