Disney+ commissions romantic comedy-drama ‘Mad Love’

Disney+ has commissioned a new six-part romantic comedy-drama titled ‘Mad Love’, written and created by acclaimed playwright Kate Cortesi. The series follows Maddy Caruso, a British wedding planner working in the Italian countryside.

While professionally successful, Maddy is fleeing a personal crisis in London involving the first man she ever loved. The narrative explores her attempt to outrun her past and the chaotic consequences that arise when her previous life catches up with her in Italy. Cortesi describes the character as a mix of wit and self-destruction, aiming to portray a journey toward self-actualization.

The project is a collaboration involving Element, Sinestra, Fremantle, and Disney+. It represents the streaming platform's continued investment in original British content, following other titles such as ‘Rivals’ and ‘Dad’. No official premiere date or production timeline has been announced.
