Disney Confirms Avatar Land Project at California Adventure

Disney has placed the "Avatar Experience" back on its official list of upcoming park attractions, signaling that the long‑rumored Avatar land at Disney California Adventure remains in development. The updated graphic was released ahead of the D23 Expo and the company’s Q3 earnings report, providing the first confirmation after months of silence that had led many fans to assume the project was cancelled.

The land is planned to occupy space in the existing Hollywood Land area and will feature a new ride that is expected to use the same advanced ride system as the Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure attraction at Shanghai Disneyland. The project was first confirmed on Disney’s 2023 earnings call, with a model and concept art shown at D23 2024. The closure of the Monsters, Inc. "Mike & Sulley to the Rescue" attraction, originally slated for early 2026 to make way for the new land, has been pushed to 2027, further indicating the Avatar project is still moving forward.
