Disney develops fifth Halloweentown film

Disney has entered early development for a fifth installment of the Halloweentown franchise, which has been inactive since 2006. The project will be based on characters originally created by Paul Bernbaum for the 1998 film.

Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn have been tapped to write the script. While the project is in development, Disney has not yet officially greenlit the film, nor has it announced a director, a release date, or a confirmed cast. It remains unclear if original stars Kimberly J. Brown or Sara Paxton will return to the role of Marnie Piper.

The franchise, which began on Disney Channel, has seen significant longevity with approximately 160 million streaming hours recorded. If produced, the film is expected to be available on both Disney Channel and Disney+.
