Disney enforces four-day in-office mandate for remote staff

The Walt Disney Company is reportedly moving toward stricter enforcement of its four-day in-office mandate, targeting employees in the product and technology divisions who previously worked remotely. While a hybrid policy requiring four days on-site has been in place since March 2023, enforcement has reportedly been inconsistent across different managers.

Sources indicate that the company is now standardizing compliance, with some employees being informed that failure to adhere to the Monday-through-Thursday on-site requirement could result in termination. This shift marks a hardening of the stance originally introduced by CEO Bob Iger, who argued that in-person collaboration is essential for the company’s creativity and culture.

This move aligns Disney with other major corporations, such as BlackRock and Chipotle, that have increased their required in-office days, signaling a broader corporate trend of reversing pandemic-era remote work flexibility.
