Disney executive Chuck Saftler to depart after 32 years

Chuck Saftler, a veteran television acquisitions executive, is stepping down from The Walt Disney Company after a 32-year career. His final day is scheduled for October 16. Saftler, who joined FX in December 1993 just months before the network's launch, was the longest-tenured employee at the network.

Most recently, Saftler served as the Head of Acquisitions for ABC, Disney Kids and Family, FX, and National Geographic within Disney’s Platform Distribution group. During his tenure, he held several high-level positions, including President of Program Strategy and Chief Operating Officer of FX Networks. He was instrumental in major industry moves, such as the landmark acquisition of ‘The Simpsons’ and the development of FX’s 10+90 episode programming model.

Saftler stated he is not retiring but is moving on to a new professional chapter. Following a transition period, Sean Cocchia, EVP of Global Entertainment Networks, Research and Business Operations, will assume Saftler’s responsibilities.
