Disney expands Disney+ and Hulu podcast libraries

Disney is expanding the podcast library on its Disney+ and Hulu streaming platforms. Following the success of companion podcasts for series such as ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars’, the company is diversifying its offerings to include licensed comedy, true crime, news, and sports content.

New additions to the service include Headgum podcasts ‘Best Friends’, featuring Nicole Byer and Sasheer Zamata, and ‘Perfect Person’, hosted by Miles Bonsignore. Upcoming releases include the ‘American Horror Story Official Podcast’ and the iHeartMedia podcast ‘Fake Doctors, Real Friends’.

Data suggests these companion series are effective for audience engagement; for example, 90% of viewers of the ‘Tell Me Lies’ companion podcast watched every episode of the latest season. Disney aims to continue this growth to deepen fan connections with its existing film and television intellectual property.
