Disney film Encanto returns to Colombian cinemas for earthquake relief
The Walt Disney Company in Latin America and Cinecolor Colombia have announced that the animated film ‘Encanto’ will return to Colombian theaters on November 12. The initiative aims to raise funds for earthquake recovery efforts.
All royalties from the film’s re-release will be donated to the Colombian Red Cross. These funds are intended to support the care and recovery of communities affected by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck on August 10. The earthquake, centered in San José del Palmar, Chocó, caused significant damage across the departments of Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Quindío, Risaralda, and Caldas.
Official reports from October indicate the seismic event resulted in 335 deaths, 103 people missing, and 4,516 injuries, alongside extensive material damage. While the re-release date is set, the specific participating cinemas have not yet been announced.
