Disney+ hires former Amazon executive Philip Pratt for DACH region

The Walt Disney Company has appointed Philip Pratt as Vice President of Original Production for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Pratt, who spent 11 years at Amazon MGM Studios, is scheduled to begin his new role in early 2027.

Based in Munich, Pratt will oversee the commissioning and development of local original content for Disney+ in the DACH region. He succeeds Benjamina Mirnik-Voges and will report to Angela Jain, Head of Content for Disney+ EMEA. This move is part of a broader strategic effort by Disney to triple its number of international original series over the next three years.

During his tenure at Amazon, Pratt was responsible for successful productions such as ‘Maxton Hall – Die Welt zwischen uns’ and local versions of ‘LOL: Last One Laughing’. His appointment follows similar leadership expansions in other European markets, such as Italy, as Disney seeks to increase its investment in regional storytelling.
