Disney Implements Ticket System to Curb Pin Line‑Cutting
Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Store release new Disney Trading Pins each Tuesday. The most sought‑after pins sell out within minutes, prompting collectors to line up early and leading to spot‑saving, line‑cutting and occasional verbal or physical confrontations.
On August 4, Disney began handing out paper tickets to guests waiting in line at Disneyland Resort merchandise locations, such as the Westward Ho Trading Company. Each guest receives one ticket in order of arrival; only those with a ticket can complete a purchase at the register. This system blocks line‑cutters from buying pins. Disney is testing the approach across Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the Downtown Disney District, initially for Kingdom Hearts‑inspired pins but with potential to expand to other weekly drops.
