Disney launches Infinity Vision certification and sees Star Wars streaming success

Disney has introduced Infinity Vision, a commercial certification for Premium Large Format (PLF) cinemas. Rather than a new filming or projection technology, the initiative serves as an auditing standard to ensure theaters meet specific technical requirements, justifying premium ticket prices for audiences.

The move follows competitive pressures in the industry, specifically regarding the December 18 release window where Disney's 'Avengers: Doomsday' faces competition from Warner Bros.' 'Dune: Part 3', which has already secured global IMAX availability.

In streaming news, 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' has reached the number one spot on Disney+, including in markets like Mexico. Despite its streaming success, the film's theatrical run was a commercial disappointment. With an estimated budget of $165 million, it grossed approximately $345 million globally, making it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film to date.
