Disney launches live‑action “Moana” promotion in Sydney and London

Disney’s upcoming live‑action remake of “Moana,” slated for release on 10 July 2026, began its global promotional campaign with a red‑carpet event in Sydney on 25 June. Cast members Dwayne Johnson (Maui) and newcomer Catherine Laga’aia (Moana), alongside director Thomas Kail, attended a presentation at ICC Sydney and a photo‑call at Bondi Icebergs, with performances by songwriter Opetaia Foaʻi’s band Te Vaka.

The promotion continues in the United Kingdom, where Disney will host a free pop‑up experience at Potters Fields Park in London on 30 June. The one‑day event features a giant recreation of Maui’s magical hook, a replica wooden canoe, dance performances by the London school of Hula and Ori, and interactive activities such as lei‑making workshops and a “Moana” karaoke pod.

At the Sydney event, Laga’aia wore a Teresa Helbig dress from the Wet Ballet Couture collection, marking her first major press appearance for the film.
