Disney+ launches X‑Men ’97 season 2 with weekly episode rollout

Marvel Animation released the second season of the animated series X‑Men ’97 on Disney+ on 1 July 2026. The launch featured the first three episodes – “Days of the Past Future”, “A Force to be Reckoned With” and “Rise of Apocalypse – Part 1” – available simultaneously, after which new episodes are released weekly on Wednesdays, completing the nine‑episode season on 12 August 2026.

The storyline follows the mutant team scattered across three eras: Ancient Egypt, a dystopian future (year 3960) and the 1990s, with the central antagonist Apocalypse receiving a deeper origin and expanded role. Supporting characters such as Cable, X‑Force and X‑Factor also appear.

Critical response has been overwhelmingly positive; the season holds a perfect 100 % score on Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised for its faithful animation style, voice cast and thematic depth, including its treatment of intolerance and diversity. The release is being streamed globally on Disney+.
