Disney+ to debut Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi anime series in August 2026

Disney+ has released a new trailer for the upcoming limited‑run anime series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, scheduled to premiere worldwide on 5 August 2026. The eight‑episode spin‑off continues the story of the short films “The Ninth Jedi” and “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope”, following the Jedi trainee Lah Kara and her companions as they seek allies against a rising warlord.

The series is produced by Production I.G, with Shunsuke Tada directing, Hitoshi Itou producing, and Kenji Kamiyama overseeing overall direction. It will be available in both Japanese with subtitles and an English dub, with German dubbing also provided for the German market. The launch is part of Disney+’s broader “Star Wars Visions Presents” line that expands the anthology’s universe into longer‑form storytelling.
