Disney Parks Shut Rides Amid Extreme Heat Warnings

Heat advisories across Disney destinations forced the temporary closure of several outdoor attractions. At Walt Disney World in Florida, the National Weather Service issued a second consecutive heat advisory for June 19‑20, reporting heat‑index values above 105°F (up to 111°F) and a major heat‑risk level. The same period placed the resort under a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms.

In Europe, Disneyland Paris faced a severe high‑temperature warning as temperatures rose above 90°F, with forecasts of up to 104°F. Disney responded by scaling back Disney Stars on Parade to feature only Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Olaf, and by replacing costumed meet‑and‑greets with face‑character performers.

Both parks saw multiple rides—Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril, Le Pays des Contes de Fées, Autopia, Disneyland Railroad and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain—temporarily shut because outdoor exposure can impair sensors, safety systems and ride mechanisms in extreme heat. The operational changes aim to protect guests and Cast Members while maintaining safety standards.
